From beginning to end of the production operations we have a high quality control on the purchasing raw materials, manufacturing and shipment.

We provide such requirements for the quality of our square-edged hardwood timber:

Tolerance of slight wane on maximum 2 edges as long as the width remains 90% clear. Slight traces of heart tolerated on 2 sides - enclosed heart admitted - red heart admitted.
On 10% of the pieces of the batch black streaks, brown rot, curly grain, bark pocket can be present. Heart shakes, ring shakes and frost cracks can be present on the ends of the pieces, as long as sides remain clear. Face shakes tolerated on the extremities

 

Q - P2

Slope of grain of 18 % admitted on one side and must not exceed 25 %

Unsound or rotten knots are tolerated

Sound sapwood admitted without limitation - unsound sapwood admitted on the edges to the same degree as wanes

Face shakes of maximum 10 cm admitted.

Tolerance of wane without limitation as long as 60% of the width of the corresponding sides or edges remain clear - all other particularities admitted with the exception of dead knots with individual diameter exceeding one third of the width of the side or edge - black bore holes admitted - deterioration caused by fungal attacks are not admitted on the sides

Stain and rot

Reference: European Norm EN 975-1 "Sawn timber - Appearance grading of hardwoods - Part 1 (oak and beech)" adopted by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) in 1995 (improved in 1999) and applied by national organisations (see http://www.cenorm.be/)

We provide such requirements for the quality of our softwood sawn products:

  • planks sawn on both sides, without failure;
  • knots on both sides that do not fall apart, that occupy no more than half the width of the piece on both sides;
  • no blue stains;
  • no rot;
  • no wane;
  • no mechanical damage;
  • no bending and twisting;
  • a small number of resin bags is possible 

All our softwood sawn products meet technical requirements of GOST 8486-86 (the state standart of quality) for 1, 2, 3 grades. . See below

Rotten and unsound knots

The note 2: Diameter of a knot is measured on distance between two straight linees concerning a knot, parallel to a longitudinal axis of sawn timber. 
The note 3: Knots with diameter less from 50% from permitted value are not taken into account. 
The note 4: The stepson are normalized as dead knot, in the perfect grade stepson is not allowed. 
The note 5: One knot with diameter on sizes of adjacent lower grade in sawn timber with length more than 3 m is allowed. 
The note 6: On the area of length, that is equal to width of sawn timber, the sum of the sizes of knots on the direct line crossing this area in any direction, should not exceed the permitted diameter of a knot. 
The note 7: Spike knots and two-edges arris knots with with the size on a small axis up to 6 mm and depth up to 3 mm in sawn timber more than 40 mm (except for a perfect grade) are allowed
The note 8: The number of knots is not standardized for cants (thickness and width of 100 mm and more).

The note 10: Norms on warp are established for sawn timber with moisture of 22%. At the greater moisture the norms have to be reduced twice. 
The note 11: The defects of the wood which has been not mentioned in the table are allowed. 
The note 12: Sawn timber are delivered dry (moisture no more than 22%), natural dry or antiseptized natural dry. 
The note 13: The quality rating of sawn timber should be made on the worst face and worst edge.
